Bytes to Kilobytes Converter
How to convert bytes to kilobytes
kilobytes = bytes ÷ 1,000
To convert bytes to kilobytes, divide the number of bytes by 1,000.
1 B = 0.001 kB
Examples
- 1,024 B ÷ 1,000 = 1.024 kB
- 1,000,000 B ÷ 1,000 = 1,000 kB
Good to know
Decimal (SI) unit based on powers of 1000, as used by drive manufacturers. Windows reports sizes in binary units (powers of 1024) but labels them "KB", "MB", "GB" and "TB", so the same file or drive shows a smaller number there.
