Temperature units

Celsius (°C)
The Celsius scale is defined as the temperature in kelvins minus 273.15, which puts the freezing point of water at about 0 °C and its boiling point at about 100 °C at sea-level pressure. It is the everyday temperature scale in most of the world.
Fahrenheit (°F)
On the Fahrenheit scale water freezes at 32 °F and boils at 212 °F at sea-level pressure, 180 degrees apart. It is the everyday temperature scale in the United States.
Kelvin (K)
The kelvin is the SI base unit of temperature, defined by fixing the value of the Boltzmann constant. Its scale starts at absolute zero and its unit is the same size as the degree Celsius; it is used throughout science and engineering.
Rankine (°R)
The Rankine scale starts at absolute zero and uses degrees the same size as the degree Fahrenheit, so a temperature in degrees Rankine is the Fahrenheit temperature plus 459.67. It is used in some US engineering calculations.
