Fahrenheit to Kelvin Converter
How to convert Fahrenheit to kelvin
K = (°F + 459.67) ÷ 1.8
To convert Fahrenheit to kelvin, add 459.67 to the value in Fahrenheit, then divide by 1.8.
1 °F = 255.927778 K
Examples
- Normal body temperature: (98.6 °F + 459.67) ÷ 1.8 = 310.15 K
- A common oven temperature: (350 °F + 459.67) ÷ 1.8 = 449.816667 K
Good to know
The scales differ in both zero point and degree size: K = (°F + 459.67) × 5/9. Absolute zero, 0 K, is −459.67 °F.
The kelvin scale starts at absolute zero, so there are no negative kelvin temperatures. Values are written without a degree sign: 300 K, not 300 °K.

Unit definitions
- Fahrenheit (°F)
- On the Fahrenheit scale water freezes at 32 °F and boils at 212 °F at sea-level pressure, 180 degrees apart. It is the everyday temperature scale in the United States.
- Kelvin (K)
- The kelvin is the SI base unit of temperature, defined by fixing the value of the Boltzmann constant. Its scale starts at absolute zero and its unit is the same size as the degree Celsius; it is used throughout science and engineering.
